Breathing techniques help pass the desire to smokeQuitting smoking is the hardest mental thing I have had to do but the best physical thing.I quit on June 26 of this year. I had smoked for about 25 years. I started when I was a teenager, and I am now 39 years old. I have tried the patch many times over the years. I was wearing the patch again for the umteenth time when my husband said I needed to try something else since I always go back to smoking. He was right, so on the fourth day, I didn't put on the patch, and I have been smoke free since.??
I have used the technique of breathing in and pretending to blow smoke rings. After three or four breaths it passes until the next craving hits. I still do this technique months later.
Cravings hit when I see someone in a car or on the street smoking. I just want to take it from them and smoke it myself. I must be getting better at controlling my urges because I have been around people who smoke, and I'm okay.—Dennette
